Today was a low-key day after the constant on-the-go excitement (and driving) of the past few days. It was a little noisy in our condo this morning, as both the garbage truck and gardener came today, so we woke up early again. We ate breakfast in Kihei at Home Maid Cafe-malasadas and more portuguese sausage. We picked up some snorkel gear at Snorkel Bob's and then we tried some snorkeling just a few steps from our condo. It was great- we saw coral and anemone and fish- even a humuhumunukunukuapua'a already! The visibility wasn't the best though because the waves were kicking up the sand.
We ate lunch (sandwiches) back on our lanai and read for a while, then headed down the street a few blocks to Foodland to pick up provisions for the next couple of days (see Spam post below). In the late afternoon we walked down to south end of Kama'ole Beach I (there are 3) and see if we could snorkel between Kam I and Kam II, but the waves were too rough. Instead we read on the beach and watched the sunset.
We ate grilled teriyaki beef, rice, and seaweed salad for dinner on the lanai. A lot of people must have been married today (09/09/09)- we saw them in their matching Hilo Hattie clothes on the beach, and we watched a private dinner set-up for six on the lawn next to our property. They had a musician and a waiter, and when they had their first dance, the couple eerily looked like us on our wedding day- tall guy, short brunette girl, similar clothes as to what we wore, and similar leis. Doppelgangers 2 years and 2 months to the day!
